Infrared

This body of work was created using infrared film. Actual film that is no longer produced, not the digital Photoshop version.

As my portfolio of infrared images grew I realized the early images represented the life I lived in my head, a bit dreamy with a multitude of unexplored paths to choose from.  In reality I was a single mother with a complex life of responsibilities and limitations.  The world I saw in infrared was without boundaries.

The unpredictability of the medium intrigued me.  It appealed to my belief that there is magic in the world, we just have to look for it. The images I made using infrared film speak to the spirit within us and the spirits around us. What I love most is that my photographs represent something different to each person.  I want the viewer to get a bit lost in the imagery, to daydream.

In my opinion the best photographs trigger an emotional response from the viewer.  Perhaps it elicits a long-forgotten memory or possibly a dream not yet realized.  I like to think that each photograph in this collection is the beginning of a really great story that the viewer is encouraged to create.
